The Arrival of muzhi.cn

This exhibit marks a quiet but important transition in the museum’s history. The domain muzhi.cn, registered in 2004, spent many years moving through different registrars, DNS providers, and administrative systems. It carried a long administrative history, but very little lived experience. Recently, after a long verification process involving real-name documentation and registrar migration, the domain finally became fully active again under modern infrastructure. At this moment, it joined: muzhi.com goldenthumb.com as a parallel entrance to the same system: the Living Museum of Learning.

The key realization in this moment is simple: A domain is not “used” when DNS records are configured. It is “used” when it begins to carry meaning.

With muzhi.cn now active, the museum gains a new layer of identity: muzhi.com → global entry muzhi.cn → cultural entry goldenthumb.com → historical entry Three domains. One museum. The system is no longer defined by infrastructure alone, but by the paths through which people arrive.

A domain name is often treated as a technical asset.

But over time, it can become something else:

a memory of intent a container of identity a placeholder for something not yet built

The activation of muzhi.cn is not a technical milestone alone. It represents the reactivation of an old possibility.

Nothing new is built here yet.

But the space is now open.
